I was thrilled when my friend and fellow artisan Nici Shipway asked me to create a custom eye painting of her daughter Amelie's stunning blue eyes featuring a light dusting of her beautiful freckles. She plans on giving the painting to Amelie as a gift on Valentines Day. Nici explained to me that her family always celebrates Valentines Day since Amelie had heart surgery on this day. I think that is such an amazing thing to celebrate and I am really touched that she felt my artwork would be a lovely gift on such an important day.
During the painting process I really became inspired by the contrast of Amelie's earthy skin tones and bright water blue eyes. It is because of this that I decided to title the piece "Eyes Of Earth and Water". I hope the piece brings happiness to Nici, Amelie, and the whole family. :)
